Saw this story about an alleged Eucharist Miracle taking place at St. Stephen's Parish in New Boston, Michigan. It's an amazing story. The story starts out...

Apparently, over Corpus Christi weekend, there had been a desecration of the Blessed Sacrament. A host was found with a bite taken out of it stuffed between the pages of a hymnal. Fr. Hedges removed the consecrated host, placed it in a container with some water in it to dissolve it and then dispose of it correctly. The following morning, when he went to open the tabernacle, he found that the host placed therein was bleeding (this is not the same host that was desecrated, but the one kept in reserve).

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) does many great things, but it's nice to see Bishop Bernard Hebda join other U.S. Bishops in calling them out.

Bishop Bernard Hebda of Gaylord, Michigan has decided to delay sending funds to CCHD from the 2010 collection while the organization is under review, LifeSiteNews has learned.

Candace Neff, communications director for the Gaylord diocese, emphasized that the bishop has not “discontinued” the collection for CCHD. “A tremendous amount of very important work is accomplished through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development,” she said

“After consulting with a number of advisors Bishop Hebda has decided that for this year (2010), while CCHD’s systems are under review, a donation will not automatically be sent to CCHD from funds donated through the Diocese of Gaylord’s Catholic Services Appeal Campaign,” she said.

Another step in the right direction for our diocese and Catholics everywhere!

I stumbled upon this site one day and it made me think about the Rosary and what it means as a Catholic Father and Husband to pray it. The Rosary is a powerful weapon (at a recent talk a priest described it as having a machine gun at your side) to help us on our journey to sainthood. I've gone through phases where I pray it consistently and also when I've struggled with saying it, but Real Men Pray The Rosary helps and gives us some useful tools in our modern internet age to help!

RMPTR uses the web and particularly social media to help spread their message and mission...

TO SHARE WITH ALL CHRISTIANS, ESPECIALLY MEN, ON THE SPIRITUAL & EMOTIONAL BENEFITS OF PRAYING THE ROSARY

I particularly find RMPTR's Facebook page useful as they post the mysteries and meditations daily and also from time-to-time gather members a Virtual Rosary where we join together to pray online.

You can also find great RMPTR gear to help support the mission (I need one of those t-shirts!) and spread the good word!

My oldest daughter recently completed the sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion on Pentecost. It's been very special for our family to go through this journey with her. She has grown and learned (me too!) so much and we feel very blessed! She was also able to wear my wife's wedding veil, so that was extra special as well! Here's a couple of pictures from her joyous day.

Before Mass

With Father Libby and Bishop Hebda

With Our Lady

Growing up Lutheran, I didn't experience the Catholic Sacraments first-hand and it's been a blessing for myself as I continue to learn more and grow in our faith. I'm very thankful for all God has given me, especially my first child becoming an official member of the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church!

Michael Voris does a great job teaching and informing the laity using the Catechism and Scripture, I can't even begin to imagine the crazy letters and emails they get on a daily basis.
I've heard of our diocese being talked about in a negative light, but I've never experienced anything like in the video above. I thank God every day for Bishop Hebda and Bishop Cooney and keep them in my prayers.

My friend Casey posted this on Facebook, but I wanted to share it here as well. It's a video by Corpus Christi Watershed about the differences between sacred music and secular music and why the music played and sung at mass is so important. They also talk about some great resources for learning and listening to Gregorian Chant and other sacred music.

Can you tell the difference?? from Corpus Christi Watershed on Vimeo.

I know for me personally I get very distracted at mass when the music is inappropriate or just simply bad. Some choirs and music directors try to incorporate non-classical instruments and new age songs into the mass and it seems like you're at a concert hall instead of Holy Mass. Personally as I've attended more traditional liturgy in the past couple of years, I've really learned to appreciate Gregorian Chant and sacred music and how it's there to help us pray and participate in the mass.

I found a site about the Doctors of the Church with info on St. Gregory with many Gregorian Chant links.

St. Gregory the Great, St. Cecilia, and St. Ephraem - Pray for Us!

I've been fortunate the last 2 1/2 weeks to have adjusted my schedule to be able to stop by my parish every day, mostly on the way to work in the morning. Some days it's only for 5 minutes, some longer. Some days it's during daily mass and others during Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Some days I get to stay for communion, others I just hear the homily, or some I'm completely by myself (well except for Jesus of course).

What I've really noticed is the ability to keep Jesus in my mind longer throughout the day. I've been able to stay on task better and not get as distracted. I realize these are graces given by God, but nonetheless I'm pretty sure they are directly related to me paying a visit each day.

Now I know it's not possible for everyone to do this, but I just want to say, if you work in the world and face society on a daily basis then give it a shot, it might just be the extra strength you need!
