Our son Mark was recently confirmed and now he can be an altar server at Mass. His first Mass as an altar server was on the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima and included a procession before Mass. I'll admit when I saw him come out carrying a candle I said a couple of Hail Mary's that he wouldn't trip or fall. Mark and his friend Christopher (also serving his first Mass) carried the candles perfectly without incident. Also serving in the procession and Mass were his brother Luke and their cousins - Jake, Isaiah, Josh, Levi and Elijah.
Here's a few pictures from the special day...

Terrific video about what it means to be an Altar Server. If you're a father with sons who serve or will serve one day, watch this!
Tonight's Mass was the first for my oldest son as an altar server. My wife and I were both very excited and a little nervous, but with the help of his older cousins, he did a great job! Thanks be to God!

*Okay, five of the seven were siblings, but still, not bad right?
Here's a picture of my oldest nephews with Bishop Hebda before serving a Holy Hour for vocations at St. Philip Neri in Empire. My sister-in-law said the boys were very honored to serve with Bishop Hebda. I would say they were very excited too!
